I do prefer the historical, not-so-sex-centric parts of Ms. Carriger's werewolves-et-al 'verse, but I liked this book and characters more than I feared I might when I realized it was partly a "teach me about sex" relationship-start, with a bit of deception thrown in. I don't mind bearing with the high tropiness of mutual pining (they both actually want something deeper), but I generally prefer romances with a more equal (and acknowledged affection first) basis.
